Your entire wardrobe now feels completely wrong and you need new clothes immediately!

It’s probably the hardest in-between seasons limbo of them all. It’s not winter anymore — but it’s not spring either. It’s that weird in-between phase, where the weather can’t make up its mind.

The Urge Is Real

You get the first hint of spring. The light changes slightly. A daffodil appears. And as my daughter says, there’s a different vibe! And before you know it, you’re browsing for sandals and linen trousers.

You don’t need new clothes. Your wardrobe is full. But somehow everything in it feels like it belongs to a different, darker, version of you – and that version is so last season.

The Problem

Here’s the thing about buying spring clothes in March: it’s still March. That linen shirt is going to sit in a bag for six weeks while you go back to wearing your coat over everything.

What To Do Instead

Have a rummage. Genuinely – before you buy a single thing, look through what you already have from last spring. There’s a high chance there will be pieces in there you’ve completely forgotten about, and it will feel like you’re shopping, without spending.

Spring is coming. It always does. You can wait two more weeks.

(Probably!)
