Get Dressed and Go – A little prep at home for holiday freedom

Why is buying jeans so hard? 6 tips to make it easier
21 April 2026

There is nothing quite like that feeling of being on holiday! The sun, the ease, the freedom of having nowhere to be and nothing to worry about. So why do so many of us stand in a hot hotel room after a day in the sun, pulling tops on and off trying to figure out what to wear?

There’s a better way. And it starts before you even pack.

My holiday wardrobe method

A few days before I go away, I go through every piece I’m taking and create every possible outfit. Not just the clothes, but the jewellery, the bag, the belt and the shoes too. The complete look, exactly as I want to wear it. Then I photograph each one.

That’s it. That’s the whole method.

When I’m on holiday and it’s time to get ready for the evening, I don’t stand in front of a suitcase feeling overwhelmed. I scroll through my photos, choose what I fancy that night, and get dressed.

Less is genuinely more

If I have seven evening outfits for a seven night holiday, that’s exactly what I have, and I’m completely at peace with that. When you have too much choice your head can spin. A little structure is actually freeing, not restricting.

I also pack what I think of as a mini capsule wardrobe. A skirt that works across two evenings with different tops and shoes. A top that goes with that skirt and also with shorts on another night. Every piece earning its place in the suitcase.

Make it fun

This doesn’t have to feel like homework. Put your favourite holiday playlist on. Lay everything out and enjoy the process of creating your looks, because that’s exactly what it is…a creative process.

The time you spend at home with your wardrobe is the time you gift yourself on holiday. No decisions, no stress, no wrestling with clothes in a hot room. Just get dressed and go.

And enjoy every single second of it. That’s what holidays are for!
